SW:TOR
« on: December 14, 2011, 01:54:12 PM »
Why you guys no have SWTOR thread?

Mines preloaded... waiting for it to release.

I'm genuinely excited for this game, I'm not expecting much but hopefully will turn out to be a really good game.

Who else thinks the preorder 'rolling' launch is fucking retarded?

Nope, I think it's a good strategy to encourage pre-orders.
Remember that if you offer pre-order bonuses, people are more enticed to buy the game. And pre-orders help fund said  game which 9 times out of 10 is still in development, so will need money in order to keep developing it so it reaches it's maximum potential.

If anything, pre-orders make the game better, and the bonuses that Bioware offer are a way of encourage that

The rolling launch is retarded because if you have lots of freinds you want to play the game with ,they all get the game at different times! now everybody is seperated and different levels right from the start. Makes it really frusterating.

Played the beta a bit. I was pretty impressed at first as a Sith Inqusitor, but after the starting area the game got fucking boring. It went from being extremely story driven to WoW with lasers.

So roll an alt and play a character with friends when the actual thing is released? Or wait. Pre-releases and pre-orders are good, but the way they've handled it was bad.

I have to say I would already have this game, if it didn't have a $15 per month subscription fee. If it were a bit lower I'd consider it.

It looks pretty fun, I'll have to consider it maybe soon.

Something to tide me over to GW2

The thing that pisses me off about subscription games is that they could easily have it $5 a month.  Hell they don't even need subscription cause look at Guild Wars.

Sub games need to just go free to play. I don't want to pay 100 dollars to own the damn game a few months, especially when they're all EQ clones.

So true. Thank god that SW: TOR and GW2 are stepping away from EQ clone MMOs. Also, I find subs bearable, but not if they are $15 for 1 damn month.

Did you play the SWTOR beta? It's exactly the same as EQ in the sense that if you stray from your storyline quests you're fucked. It nearly has the same gameplay as WoW/EQ too. On top of that, the art direction is almost as bad as Diablo 3's. It's like they got a child to draw the entire game. I mean, it was fun to play for a while but definitely not the retail price, and no way in hell worth the monthly cost.

SW: TOR steps away from it in the sense of storyline. The quests and missions in SW: TOR have something that drive it, rather than just doing it to grind out gold like WoW and EQ.
